SERVICES

Through the Mission Design Lab and the Instrument Design Lab, the IDC offers a broad range of analysis and design services tailored to meet customer needs. While the MDL offers engineering analysis and conceptual design for space missions and space systems/subsystems, the IDL offers engineering analysis and conceptual design of instrument systems and architectures.

The Integrated Design Center utilizes four key elements - People, Process, Tools, and Facility - to provide high-quality designs that meet or exceed customer requirements in a timely and cost effective manner.

PEOPLE   PROCESS
The most powerful component of the IDC is the cadre of discipline engineers. These engineers bring to the team years of expertise & experience from their home organizations within GSFC.   The IDC is a holistic engineering environment that facilitates real-time trades and the seamless integration of engineering capabilities.

TOOLS   FACILITY
IDC's web-based information system links and integrates existing discipline tools & products into a set of cohesive, efficient tools for instrument & mission design. Tools include instrument and mission archives and catalogs of subsystem components and spacecraft.   The IDC maintains two lab facilities that house specialized workstations and servers that share study information seamlessly during the design process.
